The Mining Museum in Příbram, a contributory organization of the Central Bohemian Region, is one of the oldest museums in the Czech Republic. Through its professional activities, it follows on from the work of the former Landscape Museum in Příbram, which was founded thanks to the personal initiative of a local history researcher and head teacher Ladislav Malý on 12 December 1886. dynamic development of the region, with a tradition dating back to prehistoric times.
In the 19th century, the local mountain activity reached European, in many ways also world importance. Archaeological finds from the time of the Celts, medieval and modern mining tools and implements, collections of minerals, mining uniforms, banners, models of shafts vol. štufnverky, old mining maps, official documents and also documents of artistic folk creativity of miners. Simultaneously with the Landscape Museum, there has also been a so-called Mining Museum in Příbram since the 19th century, established by C.k. Karloboromejský’s main upper plant for silver and lead, later by the State Mines for Silver and Lead in Příbram. Part of the exhibits of this museum has been in inventory and occasionally accessible to the public since 1852. It was mainly an extensive collection of samples of ores and accompanying rocks from the Příbram ore area and some other unique materials related to the development of local mining business.
